About ACS-CHAL Forensic Lawyer-Scientist Jim Butler from Texas

 

Jim Butler is a graduate of Baylor University, and South Texas College of
Law. He is Board Certified in DUI Defense by the DUI Defense Lawyer’s
Association. He also holds certifications by The National Highway Traffic
Safety Administration (NHTSA) in the Administration and Interpretation of
the Standardized Field Sobriety Test Battery, as well as certification from
(NHTSA) and the International Order of Chiefs of Police as an Instructor of
the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests. In 2010, Jim went to Axion Labs in
Chicago, where he learned Gas Chromatography from Dr. Harold McNair
and Dr. Lee Polite. He went back to Axion in 2023 and earned Certificates
of Completion in Forensic Chromatography, Forensic Drug Analysis, and
The Science of DUID. After passing an intense examination, Jim earned the
designation of Forensic Lawyer Scientist by the American Chemical
Society’s ACS CHAL section. Jim is a 2013 graduate of The Trial Lawyers
College in Dubois Wyoming, where he learned how to discover and tell the
client’s story from legendary lawyer Gerry Spence. Jim is a Founding
Member of the DUI Defense Lawyer’s Association, a member of the
National College for DUI Defense, The Texas Criminal Defense Lawyer’s
Association, and The Harris County Criminal Lawyers Association. He is
also a Member of The College of The State Bar of Texas, “a professional
society of legal scholars who are leaders in the Texas legal community and
champions of legal education.” But most important of all, Jim is a devoted
husband of 30 years to his wife Gail, and father of his daughter Sophia
and his son Connor. Jim’s hobbies are riding his Harley Road Glide, fishing
out in Galveston Bay, and volunteering at a no kill animal shelter.
