About ACS-CHAL Forensic Lawyer-Scientist Drew Prisner from Texas

John A. (“Drew”) Prisner practices criminal defense and DWI law in Houston, Texas (and its surrounding counties). After graduating from the University of Texas at Austin School of Law in 2005, where he was elected Permanent Class President by his classmates, Drew relocated back to Houston to join the civil litigation firm of Shannon, Martin, Finkelstein & Alvarado. Later, he joined the Manhattan-based firm of Chadbourne & Parke before striking out on his own and founding the Law Office of Drew Prisner. He was naturally drawn to the realm of criminal defense, and at present, he devotes almost 100% of his legal time defending the citizen-accused. The Law Office of Drew Prisner represents its clients in a broad array of criminal matters, including DWI, Intoxication Cases, Drug Cases, Assault, Domestic Violence, Theft, Robbery, Burglary, Parole Work, among others.

Drew has gained a wealth of scientific knowledge through the classes held at Axiom Labs in Chicago as he has pursued the “ACS Lawyer-Scientist” designation. The Forensic Gas Chromatography, Solid Drug, and DUI-Drug courses have proven invaluable in his defense of his clients, especially in the arena of DWI defense. Those classes, in addition to the years of practical experience in defending DWI cases, have enabled Drew to force the prosecution to carry its burden in its attempt to saddle the citizen-accused with a criminal conviction – in addition to the heavy fines and surcharges that often accompany said conviction.

Drew was named a Texas Super Lawyer “Rising Star” in 2015, and he is a member of the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, the Harris County Criminal Lawyers Association and the American Chemical Society. An avid runner and athlete, Drew won the 2002 Houston Marathon and competes in recreation sports leagues in his (increasingly diminishing) spare time.
