He was born in Columbus, Ohio where he lived until he was 17 and moved to Houston. He attended Texas Tech University and earned a degree in Multidisciplinary Studies with a concentration in special education. After undergrad he attended the Thurgood Marshall School of Law in Houston, Texas. Later, Sean came back to the school and coached the moot court team at TMSL for many years.

In 2019, Sean earned the American Chemical Society (ACS) Forensic Lawyer-Scientist Designation as recognized by the Chemistry and the Law Division of the ACS, which is the highest form of scientific recognition available for lawyers. Sean has earned certificates in Forensic Chromatography, Forensic Analysis of Solid Drugs, and Forensic Principles of DUID, issued by Axion Labs in Chicago, Illinois and the American Chemical Society.
Sean frequently speaks at seminars for various organizations concerning DWI cases . Sean is a board member of the Harris County Criminal Lawyers Association (HCCLA), and a member of the Fort Bend County Criminal Defense Attorney Association, Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association (TCDLA), the DUI Defense Lawyers Association (DUIDLA), the National College for DUI Defense (NCDD), the College of the State Bar of Texas, and the American Chemical Society (ACS).
Outside of Court, Sean is a husband and father of two daughters. He does woodworking in his spare time, building things from furniture to cutting boards and still occasionally helps coaching high school rugby for local teams in the Houston area.
